Diverse Cultural Communities and Partners

ULSD collaborates with University and community partners. The Health Science Campus Office of Diversity and Inclusion serves a liaison for all schools on the HSC Campus, including ULSD.

School of Dentistry

  • ULSD participates and promotes events designed to promote diversity and inclusion. These events include the Annual ULSD Book-In-Common and the HSC Patricia Allen Cultural Competency Workshop.
  • ULSD Outreach: Under the leadership of International Outreach and Service Learning Director David Maddy, D.M.D., the school is expanding its global strategic initiatives.
    • ULSD Community Dental Health/Service Learning: Under the leadership of Dr. Lee Mayer, students are provided with community-based experiences to enhance awareness of diverse, underrepresented and underserved populations outside the university setting.

      LASDA - Louisville American Student Dental Association

      UofL’s chapter of the ASDA, a national student-run organization.  LASDA also serves as the governing body for ULSD students.

      AAWD- American Association for Women in Dentistry

      AAWD’s Mission is to be the recognized resource for connecting and enriching the lives of women dentist.

      SADHA - Student American Dental Hygiene Association

      SADHA’s mission includes contributing toward the improvement of the oral health of the public.

      HDA - Hispanic Dental Association

      HDA’s mission includes promoting and improving the oral health of Hispanics: www.hdassoc.org

      Alpha Omega (International Fraternity)

      Alpha Omega was originally founded to fight discrimination.  It’s serves as an educational and philanthropic organization.

      CMDA - Christian Medical Dental Association

      CMDA’s mission is to glorify God-by motivating, educating and equipping Christian doctors and students.
