Welcome to the Office of Research at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry (ULSD). This Office coordinates all research that is being carried out at ULSD and sponsors several programs that facilitate student participation in research. Currently, there are two main basic science research groups in the School, the Research Group in Oral Health and Systemic Disease and the Department of Molecular, Cell and Craniofacial Biology. In addition, several other Departments in the School are involved in clinical research. I invite you to learn more about research at ULSD, the Research Faculty, and the Academic Programs that are offered at ULSD by exploring the links on this page.

The Oral Health and Systemic Disease Research Group conducts basic research in the areas of host-pathogen interactions, microbial biofilms and the innate immune response to infection. The impact of these processes on systemic health is also a focus of the Group.
This department conducts fundamental and applied research on cellular and molecular aspects of embryonic development and acquired congenital malformations, as well as protein expression and trafficking. It is also home to the University of Louisville Birth Defects Center.
