UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE HOSPITAL (ULH)

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a hospital-based program. The primary hospital is the University of Louisville Hospital, a state-of-the-art, Level 1 trauma center where more than 2,400 patients are admitted each year. The Ambulatory Care Building houses the OMFS and GPR outpatient clinics and is attached to University Hospital by a second floor pedwway. The outpatient clininc is a 4,800 square foot clinic with surgery suites and complete support facilities. The hospital is also affiliated with the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

KOSAIR CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL (KCH)

The region’s only full-service, free-standing pediatric hospital and the only free-standing hospital in Kentucky offering a pediatric trauma center. A complete range of services is provided for children, including pediatric intensive care and one of the nation’s largest intensive care nurseries for newborns. The hospital also houses the region’s first and only Congenital Heart Center for children and adults living with heart defects.

Kosair Children’s Hospital serves as the pediatric teaching facility for the University of Louisville School of Medicine and is supported by the Children’s Hospital Foundation. As part of its commitment to teaching and research, the hospital offers special programs for cancer; heart, lung, kidney and infectious diseases; respiratory ailments; neurology and neurosurgery; general pediatric surgery; orthopaedics; diabetes; psychiatry and plastic surgery; and infant/pediatric kidney and bone marrow transplants. The hospital also operates the area’s only self-contained pediatric burn unit. Because of the hospital’s special mission, all care is provided by professionals specially skilled in the care of children.

JEWISH HOSPITAL

Part of major regional health network that includes over 70 health care facilities with more than 1,412 licensed beds, over 42,000 discharges and almost 132,000 emergency room visits annually, Jewish Hospital is a 462-bed, internationally renowned, high-tech tertiary referral center located in downtown Louisville. Noted for developing leading-edge advancements in minimally invasive surgery, hand and microsurgery, heart and lung care, emergency care, orthopaedics, neuroscience, and organ transplantation, as well as numerous medical "firsts" in Kentucky, the nation and the world. The hospital is the site of the nation's first four hand transplants, and the world's first and second successful AbioCor® Implantable Replacement Heart transplant.

FRAZIER REHABILITATION INSTITUTE

Made up of inpatient and outpatient facilities across the region, Frazier incorporates a 135-bed hospital on the Jewish Hospital Medical Campus, over twenty community-based outpatient rehab sites in Kentucky and southern Indiana, and Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, a 60-bed inpatient hospital (owned in partnership with Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services and Clark Memorial Hospital). Extensive specialty rehab programs, highly skilled therapists, state-of-the-art facilities and innovative therapeutic techniques have earned national recognition for Frazier Rehab Institute, making it one of the top rehab institutions in the region. Frazier Rehab offers a multitude of specialty programs to meet the specialized rehab needs of patients.

S.I. KORNHAUSER HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY

Located in the Commons Building on the Health Sciences Campus, the Kornhauser Health Sciences Library houses materials and services supporting the health-related programs of the University of Louisville, including the schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health and Information Sciences. The library's collection contains over 250,000 cataloged volumes in print and thousands of journal subscriptions both in print and electronically accessible and represents a significant resource for the entire medical community of the Louisville metropolitan area and the western half of Kentucky. The library provides access to databases of biomedical literature, electronic texts and journals, and other medical and health sciences-related information resources both on and off campus.
