School of Dentistry
Applications for financial aid are available beginning in January for the following academic year. It is important for you to apply early. Students who complete their application by March 15th priority deadline increase their potential to receive the maximum aid available from each of the financial aid programs.
Students often find the financial aid application process confusing. To help you apply for financial aid and understand the process, the major steps are outlined below:
Step 1: Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for 2014-15
In order to submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) you will need to complete your 2013 Federal Tax Return. If you are applying for the Health Professions Student Loan you will also need to complete the parental section of the FAFSA (regardless of dependency status). This loan is offered to “economically disadvantaged students’. To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) visit the FAFSA website. The University of Louisville School Code is 001999, if you are in need of help, contact the FAFSA help line at 800 801-0576. (Please use the IRS DATA RETRIEVAL TOOL to import your 2013 tax data into your application)
.Should I Provide Parental Information?
The School of Dentistry applies for funds from the Department of Health and Human Services for the Health Professions Student Loan. Parental information is needed for this loan program to determine who is eligible. Therefore, you must provide the parental data even though you will be completing the FAFSA as an independent professional student. Please feel free to contact Barbara Dagnan if you have any questions.
