Assignment Design for the Digital Age

Teaching tips to design assignments that incorporate infographics, digital stories, and much more!

Teaching today often requires a knowledge of digital tools and media that can be dizzying or at the least an exciting frustration. In this session, we will highlight the features of successful digital assignments, such as detailed planning, audience awareness, and understanding of the medium. Evaluation models for the use of digital media and tools will be applied to example assignments. Finally, we will detail resources to aid in your instruction, as well as those to help your students complete the assignments.

As a result of attending this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify key features of successful digital assignments, with a focus on the methods of instruction and assessment;
  • Recognize different models to evaluate your use of digital media and tools in your teaching; and
  • Describe what resources exist online and on-campus to support faculty and students in creating and completing digital assignments.
