Updates regarding changes to campus and residential services for UofL students

Housing

Campus Housing is open for students who cannot return to their permanent residence.

Students who are able to stay away from campus and have internet access to complete their courses are encouraged to do so. Additionally, if you need to pick up items from your campus housing, you are welcome to do so.

By March 29, all students will be asked to move out of our campus traditional and suite-style residence halls (Threlkeld, Miller, Unitas, Community Park, Kurz, Louisville and Billy Minardi). This is extremely important to increase social distance for health and safety.

If you live in an affiliated property, please inquire with your property manager for any changes. If you have any concerns, please contact Campus Housing for assistance.

We understand that some students will have to stay on campus because we are your home. If you are in this category and need an exception, please log into the UofL housing portal and complete the “Housing exception form for Spring 2020” located on the home page immediately, and we will work to accommodate your need before the March 29 deadline, pending space availability.

Moving Out

Students who do move out of our campus residence halls must log into the Housing Portal on our homepage to submit a Cancellation Request. This cancellation will affect the duration of your housing license agreement. Review our express check-out instructions and proceed with move-out by March 29.

If you have no outstanding balances you may have a pro-rated portion of your housing costs and meal plan dining dollars credited to the fall semester in the 2020-2021 school year.

Dining

At this time, only carry-out is available at dining locations.

Information on hours and open locations can be found on the Campus Dish website. Meal plans can be used at all campus locations.

The Cardinal Cupboard is open by appointment only Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, closed weekends. Email ccfp@uoflelsb.org to set an appointment time. You will need to bring your Student ID card or know your ULink userID (ex: ccbird01). Great care is being taken to ensure that the cupboard stays clean with your health in mind.

Events

Effective immediately, all events hosted by the University of Louisville or at a University of Louisville facility will be postponed or cancelled through May 31.

Commencement

The date for spring degree conferral remains May 9, 2020, and students approved to graduate this spring will be awarded the degrees and certificates they have earned at that time. A commencement ceremony recognizing Spring 2020 graduates will be held in December 2020.

While the spring commencement ceremony is postponed, we still want to celebrate our grads’ accomplishments! At 10 a.m., Saturday, May 9, UofL will launch a virtual graduation celebration at uofl.edu/hereandbeyond2020.

Graduates, we know this isn’t how you envisioned finishing your college journey, but we will continue to honor your years of hard work, the knowledge you’ve acquired and the memories you have made at the University of Louisville. We are proud of the goals you’ve achieved and want to share that pride with your family, your friends and the entire community.

We can't wait to celebrate with you – virtually on May 9 and in-person this December.

Orientation

New Cards Orientation will be transitioned to a Virtual Orientation Program.

Virtual Orientation will consist of three parts:

  • Virtual Freshman Orientation Module
  • Virtual Academic Advising Appointment
  • Fall 2020 Course Enrollment

Registration for Virtual Orientation will take place through the New Cards Gateway with the personal email and password created at the time of application to UofL. For instructions and more information about Virtual Orientation, visit the Virtual Freshman Orientation page.
