Leasing Real Property
As an agency of the state, when a university department determines that it will need to lease office or other space there are specific steps that must be followed. The Kentucky State Statutes govern the lease process from beginning to end and even require that certain language be included in the final lease document (KRS 56.800 – KRS 56.823). To begin the lease process, a department must first submit a Space Request Form to the Office of Contract Administration. Once the Space Request Form has been submitted, Contract Administration will assist the department with the rest of the process. It is important to note that prior to advertising for space, employees should not disclose to anyone outside the University information about the needed space without prior written approval.
