Stephanie Kerschbaum

Dr. Stephanie Kerschbaum will be starting as Associate Professor of English and Director of the Expository Writing Program at the University of Washington in July 2021. She is currently Associate Professor of English at the University of Delaware.
Dr. Kerschbaum draws upon her experience as a deaf academic for her teaching and scholarship. Her research interests include diversity issues, disability studies, and the teaching of writing. She has written numerous publications, including her first book, Toward a New Rhetoric of Difference, which articulates a theory of how difference is taken up in everyday interactions and creates the conditions for large-scale change in both institutions and cultures. She received the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) "Advancement of Knowledge Award" for this work. More recently, Dr. Kerschbaum has co-edited a collection entitled, "Negotiating Disability: Disclosure and Higher Education" with Laura T. Eisenman and James M. Jones. It was published by the University of Michigan Press in 2017.
Dr. Kerschbaum will be moderating two panels: Wednesday, April 21, 5:45-7 pm EST (with presentations by Dr. Michelle Grue and Dr. Sumyat Thu) and Thursday, April 22, 12:30-1:45 pm EST (with presentations by Dr. Karen Tellez-Trujillo and Dr. Mara Lee Grayson).
