About Us

Our CEC works in partnership with the Area Health Education Centers (Purchase, West, South Central, and Northwest) to reach community members throughout western Kentucky to:

1. Facilitate connections among residents, community agencies and the CIEHS to assess community needs and priorities.

2. Support interactions to increase community awareness and understanding our CIEHS research and resources.

3. Cultivate environmental health literacy among our community partners, healthcare providers and youth.

4. Build capacity for community-led and community-engaged environmental health research.

Communities in western Kentucky and the greater Louisville region may experience exposure to diverse environmental hazards from industry (e.g., distilleries, manufacturing), superfund sites (11 outside Louisville), and agriculture. The CEC works to serve communities through resource sharing to address their environmental health priorities.
