Seminars and Lectures
Knowledge is garnered in many ways and from many sources. The chemistry faculty invite colleagues from other institutions, domestic and international, to present information on their respective research. Student Seminars are a graduate level requirement that affords students the opportunity to perfect and demonstrate their research as well as organization, writing, and presentation skills.
Each year, the Chemistry Graduate Student Association invites a prominent chemist (often, a Nobel Laureate) to the department as part of our Distinguished Lecture Series, known informally as the Derby Lectures. These lectures have acquired some cachet in the Chemistry community and contribute to departmental esprit de corps.
