May I be worthy

By Kadietwo Fahnbulleh

May I be worthy of my feet

the ones that takes me places.

The wind that blows across my face, lifting my hair up

into a crazy whirlwind of a hairdo.

May I be worthy of my eyes

the ability to see from far distance.

To look at the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon.

The eyes that dismissed from baba’s

as he grew old and eventually died

leaving with him nothing but the darkness of the world.

May I be worthy of my meat

the food that alab hunts for

to make sure that we survive.

The meat that led to a war

making my father fight

losing his life.

May I be ….
