Norton Healthcare established this chair in honor of Shirley B. Powers, an outstanding nurse leader, who retired from Norton Healthcare in 2000 as senior vice president after a 37 year career. Powers is a U of L Alumni Fellow.
The chair supports the holder’s research program and allows time to work with nursing leadership at Norton Healthcare on the development of nursing research that will benefit the health system and brings state-of-the-art clinical nursing care to the bedside.
