Heuser Hearing Research Endowed Chair

School of Medicine

Established February 2001

This endowment was funded by the Edith and Henry Heuser Hearing Institute. It supports genetics research as it relates to deafness and hearing loss, hearing loss in the aging, cochlear implants or speech affected by hearing loss. The state's Research Challenge Trust Fund matched the gift.

Edith and Henry Heuser owned Henry Vogt Machine Co., one of the oldest manufacturing firms in Louisville. Their son, Henry Vogt Heuser Jr., is president and CEO of the company. He created the Henry V. Heuser Jr. Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to outstanding students in the College of Business and Public Administration.
