Endowed Chair of Biomechanics

J.B. Speed School of Engineering

Established May 2001

This chair was established through matching funds from Kentucky’s Research Challenge Trust Fund, as a result of a $12.5 million bequest from Charles A. and Theresa U. Grosscurth. The chair is focused on research in biomechanical engineering.

The Grosscurth’s bequest created an endowment that supports scholarships for doctoral students enrolled in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering. The matching funds, received through Kentucky’s Research Challenge Trust Fund, were used to establish six endowed chairs in the Speed School, law school, and in arts and sciences.
