College of Arts and Sciences Curriculum Committee Minutes
September 25, 2009


Members present:  G. Leichty, K. Libe (A&S Student Council), A. Miller, M. Rohmann, R. Taylor, B. Willey, B. Williams

Members absent:  B. Bradley, J. Burnet

Guests:  E. Wise (HUM), W. Pfeffer, R. Nixon (CoB)

Professor Willey chaired the meeting in the absence of Professor Bradley.

Khotso Libe was welcomed as the A&S Student Council representative to the committee.

The minutes of the meeting of September 11 were approved as distributed, with the addition of “Dean’s Scholar”  to the academic designations for which the committee approved an exception process.  

Professors Wise, Nixon, and Pfeffer discussed the proposal for a dual MBA/MA in Humanities with concentration in Civic Leadership.  Questions of curriculum and tuition were clarified.  The proposal was approved.

The following course actions were approved, effective Summer 2010.

Latin 501: Special Topics: Prose and Latin 502: Special Topics: Poetry were approved as new courses.

A change to P/F grading option was approved for PSYC 686: Supervised Clinical Practicum.

HIST 317:  African American Experience in Wartime was approved as a new course.  The committee requested that the department be asked about cross-listing the course.  [Note:  the instructor/department do not wish to cross-list the course at this time.] 

GEOG 590 was deleted as a course option in the Asian Studies minor.
