The committee discussed a basic format for the accelerated master's degree, in which students would be able to apply to the baccalaureate degree up to 9-hours of course work taken for graduate credit. The committee outlined minimal guidelines, with the understanding that departments might further specify conditions for participation.

  1. Students must apply no later than the end of the junior year for admission to the accelerated program.
  2. A minimum overall grade point average of 3.35 is required. Departments may specify minimum grade point average in the major and minimum hours completed in the major if they desire.
  3. Students must complete the GRE and any additional departmental guidelines for admission to the graduate program.
  4. The student may take a maximum of 9 hour for graduate credit, which will also apply to the requirements for the baccalaureate degree; departments may specify particular courses to be taken.

Revisions to the BA and BS and Pan African Studies were returned to the department for clarification of total hours in several categories.
