CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES

September 12, 2000

The minutes of the meetings of April 19 and August 29, 2000, were approved as distributed.

JA 521: White Collar Crime was approved for WR credit, effective 01S. Action on JA 520: Capital Punishment was deferred until the department provides a syllabus which reflects the WR requirements more specifically.

SPAN 332: Latin American Culture and Civilization was approved for WR credit, retroactive to this semester. For students currently enrolled in the course, the department must document their successful completion of the course under the WR guidelines with letters for their advising files.

Action was deferred on FREN 551/552 until Professor Pfeffer can meet with the committee next semester, as there were several clarifications which needed to be made.

A minor in Classics was approved.

A proposal for a dual degree in Law (J.D.) and Humanities (M.A.) was approved and will be forwarded to the Graduate School.

Action was deferred on WMST 373/ML 365/GERM 365 until the instructor can be present to answer questions about the courses.

The committee began its discussion of the proposed MA in Pan-African Studies. Among the issues raised were the number of hours (39) required for the degree and the admission requirements.
