MINUTES

February 23, 2000

Professor Stenger, Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:35.

The minutes of the meeting of February 9 were approved as distributed.

It was noted that WR Credit should be indicated for CHEM 470 (minutes of December 7).

The committee and representatives of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages discussed proposed changes to the major in Spanish. The department will resubmit a proposal incorporating the items agreed upon.

HIST 377 was approved as a substitute for HIST 101 and HIST 378 as a substitute for HIST 102, effective Fall 2000.

In response to inquiries, the committee clarified the following points:

  1. PE courses will be accepted as electives under the new general
  2. education program.

  3. Successful completion of ENGL 105 will fulfill the lower division

Written Communication requirement.

The committee approved a change in the College's bankruptcy policy requested by the Undergraduate Council. The stipulation that a student must be readmitted directly to A&S will be removed. The student may be readmitted to any unit of the University. No other changes were made to the policy.
