CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES

December 10, 1998

Members Present: R. Baldwin, J. Hart, T. Mackey, S. Maloney (Chair), M. Rohmann, R. Sahoo, M. Stenger, R. Taylor

Professor Maloney called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m.

The committee approved changes to degree requirements in Justice Administration leading to the phasing out of the concentrations in Police Administration and Correctional Administration.

The following new courses were approved:

    JA 306: Criminal Procedures
    JA 390: Criminal Law and Evidence
    JA 485: Seminar in Justice Administration (WR)
In both the major and minor, JA 306 will replace the present JA 307; JA 390 will replace the present JA 309; and JA 485 will replace JA 465 and JA 475. JA 356 was removed from the core degree requirements. These changes will be effective for students entering in Fall 2000.

The following course actions were approved, effective 99F:

    ML 343: Weimar Culture (new course; WR credit)
    ML 342: Grimms' Fairy Tales (new course; WR credit)
    ML 365: Women Writers and Filmmakers (new course; WR credit)
    ML 519: German Intellectual History (new course)
    GERM 351: Weimar Culture (new course)
    GERM 341: Grimms' Fairy Tales (new course)
    GERM 365: Women Writers and Filmmakers (new course)
    GERM 519: German Intellectual History (new course)
    GERM 301: German Louisville
(Credit may not be received for both ML and GERM identically titled courses)

Changes to the curriculum in Fine Arts were approved, effective 99F:

    ART 109: Foundation 2-D Design (changed to ART 105 [3 credits])
    ART 110: Foundation 3-D Design (changed to ART 106 [3 credits])
    ART 108: Foundation Color (deleted from major and minor requirements)
Creation of a new area of concentration in Mixed Media
    ART 328: Introduction to Computer Art (new course)
    ART 528: Web Site Design (new course)
