Important Faculty and Staff Awards Clarification

April 23, 2021 - Director of Communication & Special Projects

Dear A&S Faculty,

Many of you saw the announcement in UofL Today for the University-wide faculty and staff awards:

UofL Today Announcement | April 19, 2021 - Celebrating employee excellence with two new additional awards in 2021
In addition to the Outstanding Performance Awards, Outstanding Supervisor Award and the Distinguished Faculty Awards, two new recognition awards have been created for both faculty and staff: the Cardinal Principles Champions and COVID-19 Hero Awards.  The university is committed to recognizing exceptional employees, and the Employee Success Center will facilitate nominations for these awards. Learn more about each award and how to submit nominations.

Understandably, it might have caused you some confusion. The College is ahead of the game in that we do our own Outstanding Performance Awards for Staff. Distinguished Faculty Awards, and Outstanding Supervisor Award. Our nomination deadline has already passed and the winners for the College-wide awards will be announced within the week. Those winners will be forwarded on to the Employee Success Center as the College’s nominees. So in a nutshell, there is no need to nominate for the any of the awards listed above. That ship has sailed.

However, there are two new awards – the Cardinal Principles Champions and COVID-19 Hero Awards. We highly encourage you to nominate your colleagues for them. You can even nominate a team for these awards.

Winners will receive the following:

  • Cash award of $1,000 (distributed equally amongst members for teams)
  • Certificate
  • Featured on Employee Success Center recognition page
  • UofL Today recognition

Note the deadline is right around the corner – May 15, 2021

Thanks, and please contact recognition@louisville.edu if you have questions about these new awards.
