Community Engagement Award


The Community Engagement Award is presented to a faculty member and staff member of the College of Arts and Sciences whose work encompasses outstanding service and curricular engagement with community partners. Nominations are accepted from faculty, staff, student or administrator. Self-nominations are not accepted.


Faculty and staff of the College of Arts & Sciences.


$500 and a plaque-mounted certificate.


2 (submit one nomination packet per nominee per category) Faculty, Staff


  • Must promote the College of Arts and Sciences, through partnerships with community organizations on projects that enhance the quality of life for residents
  • Must list the community partners involved in the project/s
  • Project/s may not involve direct fee for services (recipient’s work goes beyond their job description or work responsibilities)
  • Length of time of the partnership (longevity)
  • Must demonstrate the project/s offer a range of services.
  • Must submit a letter of support (one page please) from the department chair or supervisor, AND, the community partner


Nomination Packets must include the following letters addressed to the A&S Community Engagement Council:

  • A letter of nomination that describes the nominee’s work with the community partner/organization, longevity with the program/project, justification for the recognition, description of work done that is beyond normal work duties.
  • A letter of support (one page) from the department chair or supervisor.
  • A letter of support from the community partner describing the organization, services offered, and impact of the nominee’s service to the organization on behalf of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nominators and nominees are responsible for the collection of all documents required. Nominators are responsible for submission of Nomination Packets by the deadline to:
