Academic Assistance

Academic Assistance Information

Many students experience some form of academic difficulty during their college career. Some may simply struggle through a class or two, or through a single semester. For others, academic difficulty may be more severe and/or long-lasting. A&S Advising is committed to helping you through any academic situation. You can view some resources below or call our office at (502) 852-5502 to set up an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss your plans for success.

Achieve Success Program

The Achieve Success Program is a program for A&S students who are on academic warning and/or academic probation. At the beginning of the semester, students are added to a Blackboard shell for the program where they complete an academic self-assessment and academic success contract. Throughout the semester, students receive periodic emails from their academic advisor and the program coordinator with the purpose of providing information and support. Students who have taken part in Achieve Success find that the support, encouragement, and self-reflection of the program are helpful for them to reach their academic goals.

Students facing academic difficulty are influenced by various factors and knowledge of these factors is invaluable to the success of the student. It is important for students to gain as much information as possible about their individual academic situation and based on this information develop a plan to return to good academic standing. Students may complete these steps by doing the following:

  • meet with an academic advisor
  • assess the severity of their grade point average deficit,
  • know what courses should be taken (or repeated),
  • be aware of the grades needed to clear probationary status, and
  • develop a study schedule and routine that will provide both the structure and support needed to concentrate on improving their academic performance.

Policies on General Education Math Learning Disabilities can be found here.
