Major Requirements
Functional fluency in ASL and basic interpreting competencies (must have completed ASL 101, 102, 201, 202 and ITP 115, 215, 220); GPA: 2.25 overall and 3.0 in ASL/ITP courses.

To qualify for admission to the Department of Art and Design, students must:
- Be admitted to the University in Good Standing,
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5,
- Meet the minimum overall grade point standards for the College of Arts & Sciences.
In addition, a grade of D in any department course at the 300 level or above may not be used to fulfill a departmental requirement. A grade of C-minus or better is required in all 300- and 500-level courses in the major.
Enrolled University of Louisville students may apply for major via ULink. Incoming and transfer students must be accepted by the University first, and then may apply for major.
UofL GPA: 2.0 overall.
For students admitted to UofL starting in the Summer 2010 semester or later:
- Completion of BIOL 240, 242 and 244 with a grade of C or better; completion of MATH 111 with a grade of C or better OR placement into a mathematics course above the level of MATH 111 on the basis of either the UofL math placement exam or ACT/SAT score; GPA: 2.0 overall.
For students admitted to UofL starting in the Summer 2016 semester or later:
- CHEM 202 (or equivalent course from another institution) with a C or better.
- BA in Communication - COMM 201 with a C or better; GPA: 2.0 overall and 2.0 in major.
- BS in Communication - COMM 201 with a C or better; GPA: 2.5 overall and 2.0 in major.

- GPA: 2.75 overall (including transfer credit hours and grades if applicable); and
- Submit a written proposal of degree program for approval by the Liberal Studies Committee. This proposal must be approved by Dr. John Hale before the applicant can be accepted as an approved Liberal Studies major.
Enrollment in a mathematics course beyond MATH 205; GPA: 2.0 overall and 2.0 in major.

PSYC 201 (or approved substitute) with a C or better; completion of the General Education Mathematics requirement; PSYC 301 (or approved substitute) with a C or better; 30 hours of degree-applicable credit completed; GPA: 2.0 overall and 2.0 in major; and minimum grade of C- in all courses used to meet departmental requirements in the Psychology major. - Effective Fall 2010:
