Emergency Funding & Resources

Graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences who experience unexpected financial emergencies due to circumstances beyond their control can apply for financial assistance from the emergency funds listed below:

Graduate School Student Emergency Grant Fund

This fund is designed to help alleviateimmediate, unexpected expenses due to circumstances beyond student's control that cause financial hardships and may endanger a student’s ability to continue enrollment in a graduate program at the University of Louisville. The unexpected expense can be of an emergency in nature or an unplanned non-discretionary expense. This funding is not intended to assist with paying tuition bills. Any funding provided will generally be capped at $500. Click here to view eligibility guidelines and application.

Louis and Louise W. Weisser Bornwasser Student Emergency Fund

This emergency fund was created to assist UofL students (graduate and undergraduate) who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event which would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education at UofL. These funds are not intended to be used for routine expenses or as a consistent supplement to a student’s educational funding sources. An event or unforeseeable circumstance must be the cause of the loss of funds in order to be eligible for student emergency funds. Students may apply when they have exhausted all other resources. Students, if awarded, are not required to repay the funding amount. Click here to view eligibility guidelines and application.

Additional resources for students in need are available on campus and in the community.
