Snap!

Watch for the mobile gallery to pop up in neighborhoods city-wide during the 2019 Louisville Photo Biennial.

Snap! is a collaborative social change PhotoVoice project aimed at educating citizens and building advocacy for including student voice in decisions about safety in public schools. A project team of university and high school students, local policymakers, and professors are coming together to address shared concerns and guide the future trajectory of school safety toward a path of shared decision-making and inclusiveness. Through a series of photography and writing workshops, students will share their experiences in a way that will center their voices in local school and district-wide decisions. The students' culminating photographic art will be showcased in a box truck that has been converted into both a gallery and functioning camera. Snap! is collaborative project directed by Professors of Criminal Justice Benjamin Fisher and Heather Ouelette, Professor of Public Health Aishia Brown and Professor of Photography Mary Carothers.
