The Department of Art + Design endowed as the Hite Institute of Art + Design of the University of Louisville offers the following undergraduate degrees:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art in two tracks:
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in three tracks:
- Studio Art Track [Ceramics, Drawing, Fiber Arts/Mixed Media, Glass, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture]
- Graphic Design Track
- Interior Design Track
The faculty are committed to providing our graduates with technical competence, aesthetic judgment and a strong dedication to artistic quality within the framework of a solid liberal arts background. Academic requirements in the Department of Art + Design for majors range from 40 to 63 hours depending on specific degree requirements. In addition, undergraduate majors also take University-wide General Education requirements and programmatic and supporting courses in the College of Arts & Sciences.
