Volunteer Opportunities with RAPP

Volunteer with RAPP!

If you like meeting new people and being at farmers’ markets, this is a great volunteer opportunity! Catholic Charities’ Refugee Agricultural Partnership Project (RAPP) needs volunteers to work with gardeners who are selling their produce.

RAPP is looking for 20 volunteers to help out at our Farmers' Market booths throughout the summer. We are looking for outgoing folks who are punctual, hard-working, interested in developing relationships with refugee growers, and can be available at least two days a month for up to five hours each day. Volunteers will go through a brief training session to learn about our program, our growers, and market operations.  Volunteers will then learn hands-on at Farmers’ Markets throughout the first part of the market season.

We offer two options for your brief training:

Either Saturday, May 18 from 10 – 11:30 am or Tuesday, May 21 at from 7 – 8:30 pm

at Americana Community Center, 4801 Southside Drive, 40214.

To reserve a spot at the training:
Lauren Goldberg, RAPP Coordinator, 502.873.2560 ext 256 or lgoldberg@archlou.org

The markets we attend are St. Matthews, Whole Foods, and the Flea-Off.  Pick the market that is easiest for you!

  • St. Matthews is located at 4100 Shelbyville Road, 40207
  • Whole Foods is located at 4944 Shelbyville Rd, 40207
  • The Flea-Off Market, Fresh Start Growers’ Supply, 1007 E Jefferson Street, 40206

RAPP market options

Market weekends are mid-June through October.  The markets last 22 weeks over the course of the summer and volunteers must be able to attend at least two markets per month.  We are flexible – let us know your availability, and we will establish a workable volunteer schedule together!
