In-state Tuition for Out-of-State Students
Border Benefit Award Information & Criteria
This estimated $16,000* grant enables students residing in select regional areas to pay the equivalent of KY in-state tuition by subtracting this amount from their tuition bill.
Incoming students will automatically receive this renewable award upon admission to UofL. No additional application is required.

The Border Benefit cannot be combined with the Grawemeyer Scholarship, Regional Scholars Award, National Scholars Program or National Merit finalist scholarship.
Transfer students are eligible for the $16,000 level award.

Simply submit a UofL Take Flight application or the Common App, along with the $30 application fee (or fee waiver documentation) and your high school transcript. ACT/SAT scores are optional, although we do encourage students with qualifying test scores to submit their scores.
The University of Louisville guarantees Admission-Based Scholarships until May 1 for students entering UofL in the fall.
