Research

My research concerns (1) the evolution of virulence and antibiotic resistance among infectious diseases and (2) integrated approaches to understanding the causes and development of chronic disease.  Most recently my laboratory research has been focusing on the evolution of virulence and antibiotic resistance in the agent of cholera, Vibrio cholerae.

Teaching

I teach the following courses:

Biology 372: Evolutionary Ecology of Disease (Fall and Spring semesters)

Biology 552/652: Evolutionary Medicine (alternate Spring semesters)

Biology 553/653 Chronic Disease Biology (alternate Spring semesters)

Prospective Students

Individuals interested in working with me should send a letter of inquiry by email, explaining their interests and background.
