Craig A. Grapperhaus received his B.S. degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Chemistry with a minor in Economics from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1994. In 1998, under the direction of Prof. Marcetta Darensbourg he received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. From 1998 to 2000 Craig was an Alexander von Humboldt Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institut für Strahlenchemie (now Bioanorganische Chemie) with Prof. Karl Wieghardt.

In July 2000, Prof. Grapperhaus joined the faculty of the University of Louisville as an Assistant Professor. In 2005 he was promoted to Associate Professor and began serving as the departmental Director of Graduate Studies.

The Grapperhaus Research Group focuses on the chemistry of transition metal-thioaltes using a multi-pronged approach including synthesis, spectroscopy, reactivity, and computation. Current projects can be found by selecting the research interests link.
