We're committed to creating and supporting a culture of writing at UofL. Throughout the year we hold writing groups and events about writing to help support, and have fun, with all aspects of writing. All events are free and take place at the University Writing Center, on the first floor of Ekstrom Library. Spring 2024

Wednesday February 21 - International Mother Language Day, 12:30-2:00pm in Ekstrom Lobby 

The Writing Center will host in-person Open Writing Time once a week on Thursdays 9:00-11:00am.

The Faculty and Graduate Student Writing Group meets in person and online via YouTube Live. Meetings will be held every Tuesday, 9:00-11:00am, starting January 9

The LGBTQ+ Writing Group meets in person 5-6pm on the following Mondays:

  • February 19
  • March 4
  • March 18
  • April 1
  • April 15 

The Creative Writing Group meets in person 12:00-1:30pm on the following Tuesdays

Thursday, October 26 - Halloween Open Mic Night hosted in conjunction with Miracle Monocle

Thursday, November 16 - Axton Reading Series, memoirist and fiction writer Lee Durkee, 7:30pm

Monday, November 27 - Writing Center Movie Night: She's the Man, 5-7pm
