Writer Center Introduction Video Script

Welcome to the University Writing Center at the University of Louisville. We consider writing to be an indispensable part of the intellectual life of the university, and we work to support the writing of all members of our community--undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff. We can help you with your writing at any stage in your writing process - if you’re trying to get started, if you have a draft you’d like to talk about, or if you want help with editing and proofreading strategies.

At the Writing Center our goal is to help writers from every college, department, and discipline, with their current projects as well as offer advice that will help them improve their overall writing abilities. We don’t edit papers for you, but we work with you to improve your writing skills, from finding a focus, to organization, to style and grammar. During a Writing Center session, our experienced consultants will ask you questions, respond to your drafts, and address  concerns you have about your writing.

You can make an appointment by calling us or through our website. Our sessions are 50 minutes long and start at the top of the hour. You can make multiple appointments at one time - up to three appointments a week. Our hours for this semester are posted on our website.

We are located on the third floor of Ekstrom Library and, if you are on the Health Sciences Campus, our office is in the Instructional Building, room 120.

We also have resources on our website to help you with your writing, including how to get started on an assignment, how to write using sources, and how to use different citation styles. Faculty will find resources for teaching writing and links for scheduling classroom presentations about the Writing Center.

If you’re a distance education student, you can use our online, virtual writing center. Click on the link on the website to watch a video find out how we can help you with your writing, including live chat sessions with our consultants.

Try us and we think you’ll want to come again. To learn more about what we do and how to make an appointment, give us a call or explore our website for information and writing advice. We hope to see you soon.
