Mary K. Tachau Gender Equity Award

The Award,  is given to a member of the UofL  community  - broadly defined to include all of those, past and present, who have some affiliation with the University of Louisville - whose work has directly furthered  gender equity. It is presented by the UofL Women’s Center and the UofL Commission on the Status of Women at the ECS Empowerment Luncheon.

 ShellyShelly Santry, Assistant professor and Director of the Brandeis School of Law Domestic Violence Clinic (center holding certificate) is the 2012 recipient of the Mary K. Tachau Gender Equity Award.  Pictured at left is Valerie M. Casey, Interim Director of the Women’s Center and Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women (COSW); Susan Duncan, Interim Dean of the Brandeis School of Law; Phyllis M. Webb, Program Coordinator in the Women’s Center; Ann Lawson, Vice-Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women (COSW); and Brenda Hart, Executive Committee member of COSW and chair of the 2012 Tachau selection committee. 

Other nominees of the Tachau Award included:  Cathe Dykstra, President & CEO of the Family Scholar House; Dr. Vicki Hines-Martin, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Nursing; and Amy Shearer Lingo, Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education, College of Education and Human Development.
