Tampon Task Force

This initiative, spearheaded by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) at UofL and UofL Women’s Center, started when students approached The Center with concerns about the lack of access to personal hygiene products on campus. They shared stories of needing to either beg strangers for tampons in the case of emergencies or leave class. Neither of these scenarios is pleasant. AAUW at UofL held a personal hygiene product drive on campus during the Spring 2017 semester with the generous support of students, faculty and staff, they were able to collect more than 700 personal hygiene products! With a need still there, they wanted to expand this initiative.

With the added support of the Women’s Center other student groups, Women 4 Women Student Board and Empowering Ladies Together, the Tampon Task Force was created.

Tampon Task Force Sites

We are looking for individuals and organizations to be a part of the Tampon Task Force!

  • Be a Tampon Task Force Ambassador
  • Host a collection drive
  • Collect supplies for disbursement on campus and refill Tampon Task Force Baskets with supplies

We are also looking for departments on both the Belknap and Health Sciences Campuses who will:

  • Identify a contact person who will monitor the basket and let the Women’s Center know when supplies are running low to be refilled when supplies are available. We will work with you to keep track of how many supplies are going out!
  • Be a site on campus to collect personal hygiene products throughout the year to be stored at the Women's Center

Want to be involved and support the Tampon Task Force? Contact the Women's Center! (502) 852-8976 or womenctr@louisville.edu.
