Spring is the season for new beginnings.

You are invited to learn more about the U of L Women’s Network; meet new members or become a member. Network, connect and find out more about personal and professional development opportunities and more!

*Free boxed lunch and refreshments are available with registration. Door prizes and soft music.

UofL Women's Network Roundtable Discussion

Thursday April 19

4-6pm, Clinical Translational Research Building

The UofL Women’s Network will host the inaugural Women’s Network Roundtable (NWR) Thursday April 19th in the CTR building on the HSC campus from 4-6 p.m.  The Roundtable will bring together faculty and staff from all campuses with subject matter experts/facilitators who will guide small group discussions.  This Roundtable is for anyone interested in professional development and relationship building opportunities. 

Facilitators are: Dean Marcia Hern from the Nursing School; Dr. Edna Ross, Associate Professor Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences; Dr. Ann Herd, and Dr. Kerry Charron, Assistant Professors Educational  Leadership and Organizational Development with the College of Education.

Topics include: Intersectionality/Work Life Balance , Negotiation Skills,  Imposter Syndrome and  Your Unique Value Proposition Branding.

This is an opportunity to meet dynamic women and make an investment in yourself.  Thanks to the generosity of our facilitators and sponsors the program is free to Network members.

*UofL Women's Network Lunch: Dean Beth Boehm

Friday March 23

 Dean Boehm is a Professor of English, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies (SIGS) at the University of Louisville. She served as the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English from 1995 through 2005 and was Vice Chair of the department for seven of those years. She was elected Vice Chair of the Faculty Senate in 2004 and Chair in 2006. Beth is the architect of a graduate student professional development program at the University of Louisville called the PLAN, which is an acronym for Professional development, Life skills development, Academic development, and Networking.  The PLAN is committed to helping students learn skills across all areas, and hosts semester or year-long academies in teaching, grant writing, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and publishing;  PLAN also hosts a variety of workshops with topics ranging from managing your time, to stress management, to navigating the IRB, to managing your mentor, to getting the career you desire.  The PLAN has received acclaim in national venues such as the Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Education. Her experiences and expertise will provide excellent topics for discussion at lunch.

Wednesday February 21

 Jeanne Guerrero is Program Director of the University of Louisville (UofL) High School Dual and College Credit Programs. She is also director of the UofL Advanced Placement Summer Institute for high school teachers. Ms. Guerrero began her career at UofL after working for many years as an educational technology specialist with the South Eastern Regional Vision for Education (SERVE) at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. There, she worked with K-12 schools, colleges, and universities to help teachers transform teaching and learning through technology. She received her B.A. from Louisiana State University, an M.A. from Delta State University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville.

Wednesday January 24

 Dean Hern has served as dean and professor of the School of Nursing for almost 11 years. She was initially appointed to the School of Nursing September 1, 2007. Prior to her appointment at UofL, she served as Dean of the College of Nursing, Texas Woman’s University  where she led 108 faculty on campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston from 2004-2007. In addition, Dean Hern had a 21 year history of service to the College of Nursing at University of Cincinnati where  she concluded her tenure there as Department Chair of Parent Child Health Nursing. She taught pediatric nursing and also worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital part-time.
