Nov. 4 – “Walk the Vote,” sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta sorority. Students will meet at Unitas Hall at 1:45 p.m. and walk to Noe Middle School to cast their ballot.
Nov. 4 – The newly opened Jazzman's Café in the Student Activities Center will host an election watch on Tuesday evening until 11 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are invited.
Nov. 9 – “Meeting Expectations in the Local, State and National Political Process,” panel discussion by elected officials and representatives from the Barack Obama and John Yarmuth political campaigns, 4 p.m.-6 p.m., Yearlings Club, 4309 W. Broadway

- Nov. 6: “Remotely Controlled Telescopes: A New Look at the Cosmos,” Meet the Professor luncheon lecture by John Kielkopf, physics and astronomy professor, about telescopes UofL students use and the one he uses in collaboration with the University of Southern Queensland, noon, University Club, reserve for $14 with Janna Tajibaeva, 852-2247
- Nov. 6: “Fluxus with Tools, or Bon Appetit,” Marcia Hite Endowed Lecture by mother and daughter Allison Knowles and Hannah Higgins, 6 p.m., Speed Art Museum. Knowles is a New York-based artist and original member of Fluxus. Higgins is an associate professor of art history at the University of Illinois at Chicago and author of “Fluxus Experience.” The two women will offer commentary about Fluxus. Fluxus artists will also perform.
- Nov. 7: "The Art of Experience: Fluxus Works from the Collection of Michael Lowe," exhibit reception will feature Fluxus pieces owned by Lowe, a Cincinnati art collector, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Cressman Center for Visual Art.
- Nov. 8: Midnight Mayhem racing event featuring two mini-Baja vehicles designed, built and driven by UofL Speed School of Engineering students in competition with vehicles from at least 10 other universities, 8 p.m.-midnight endurance race on lighted dirt track, Podium1 Motoplex, 2921 Sunset Trail, Charlestown, Ind.
- Nov. 10: “What Now? What Next? Revisiting the Radical Voices of the Civil Rights Movement,”. Anne Braden memorial lecture by author Barbara Ransby, University of Illinois-Chicago associate professor of gender and women's studies, history and African American studies, 5:30 p.m., School of Music's Comstock Hall. 5 p.m. book signing in foyer for Ransby's “Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement: A Radical Democratic Vision.” UofL's Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research also will sponsor a free community conversation with Ransby 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Yearlings Club, 4309 W. Broadway.
- Nov. 13: 2008 Elizabeth Cady Stanton Awards luncheon. Lynn Niedermeier, author of a book about Kentucky writer and suffragist Eliza Calvert Hall, will deliver the keynote address at a luncheon organized by University of Louisville’s Women’s Center to commemorate the birthday of Stanton, a 19th century pioneer of women’s rights. The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets, which are $25, can be purchased by calling 502-852-8976.
