Spring Break

Students and many faculty members will be on spring break March 16-20. University offices will be open during the break. What’s Happening @UofL will skip next week, but will resume March 24.

Filmmaker talk, screening are among Women’s History Month highlights

Filmmaker Anayansi Prado explores the challenges of Latino life in her documentaries, and she’ll discuss her approach March 25 as the annual Minx Auerbach lecturer in women’s and gender studies. Her free, public talk -- “Insider/Observer: The Immigrant Experience Through the Lens” -- will begin at 6 p.m. in Speed Art Museum Auditorium. Her hourlong film “Maid in America,” about Los Angeles domestic workers, will be shown at 2:30 p.m. March 10 in Ekstrom Library’s Chao Auditorium. Both events are part of many Women’s History Month offerings at UofL. Grawemeyer music winner to speak Thursday

Australian composer Brett Dean will deliver the final 2009 Grawemeyer Award talk Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Margaret Comstock Concert Hall at the School of Music. Dean received the award for music composition for his four-movement concerto “The Lost Art of Letter Writing.” More information
