mediaone streaming server
Using the mediaone server to stream windows and real media content
Posting Content
A web-based interface is available to post content to the mediaone server. You must submit a request to get access to place content on the service.
Real Media
URLs to Real Media content
Once you place a .rm or .ra file on the mediaone server, you'll need to tell the real media player how to get at it. There are two ways to accomplish this, the simpler "ramgen" method, or by creating a .ram file.
ramgen
Using ramgen is the easiest way to access real media content you've created. Once you place the file on the server, you simply place a link to it in your web page. A typical ramgen URL to a piece of Real Media content may look like this:
http://real.louisville.edu:8080/ramgen/school/department/some-file.rm
Windows Media
URLs to Windows Media content on mediaone.louisville.edu
It is good practice to create a .asx file and have that link to Windows Media content. The .asx file contains information that allows a user's web browser or the Windows Media Player to playback Windows Media content.
A typical URL to a piece of Windows Media content may look like this:
mms://mediaone.louisville.edu/stream/school/department/some-file.wmv
