Configuring and Using WebDAV in Windows Vista (32 bit Only)

Note:  WebDAV does not currently work with the 64 bit version of Windows Vista.

  1. If you have not already, download the Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306) patch from Microsoft and install it on your Windows Vista computer. Please note that you may need to have your tier one representative install this for you.
  2. Once you have installed the patch, go to Start - Computer.
  3. Choose “Map Network Drive” from the taskbar near the top of the window.
  4. At the next screen, choose the “Connect to a Web site that you can use…” link at the bottom.
  5. A new wizard will pop up. Click Next and then “Choose a custom network location.”
  6. Enter the location of your website’s WebDAV connection and click Next. The Web Team will you send you this when you request WebDAV access.
  7. At the next screen, enter your ULink user ID and password.
  8. Add a name for this connection: [YOUR WEBSITE’S TITLE] WEBDAV CONNECTION
  9. Check the “Open this network location” box and click finish.
  10. You may be asked to enter your ULink user ID and password again. If so, re-enter it.
  11. The connection window will then appear. This will look much like any other folder in Windows Vista. However, the only way to navigation your site’s folders is to use the Folders sidebar on the left of the window. If you do not see the Folders sidebar immediately, look for a “Folders” heading toward the lower left of the window and click it. To navigate your site’s folders, click the small arrow next to the folder name in the Folders sidebar.
  12. To change any file, you can download it to your computer by dragging it from its window onto your desktop or into another folder on your computer. Make all desired changes to the document.
  13. To publish your updated file, drag the file from its folder on your computer to the window labeled with the title you gave it in step 7.
  14. Go to your web browser, load the page you just changed, and confirm that the changes are correct. Repeat steps 1-12 if you want to make additional edits.
