A STAR IS BRONZED

Football and track legend Lenny Lyles '58A was immortalized by noted sculptor Ed Hamilton '69LSA with a bronze statue located in the new Cardinal Park complex. The memorial shows Lyles competing at a track meet. It was dedicated on Oct. 12 before a crowd of well wishers.

Cardinal fans probably best remember Lyles as U of L's all-time leading scorer and for holding the team's leading rusher title for a decade and a half. Yet, Lyles told the audience, his first love was track.

"I have fond memories of dashing around the track setting records and leaving competitors behind," he said.
