There will be detours, lane closures and road closures at Belknap Campus now through December. Allow extra time to get to Belknap Campus, especially if you travel through the affected areas or park on the east side or at Speed School.

Part I: Warnock Avenue and I-65 ramps
Starting Date: Aug. 18.
Completion: Aug. 31
Scope: Modify and widen I-65 ramps at Warnock. Add turn lane and traffic signal where Warnock and ramps intersect. (See PDF map area A)
Impact:
- Warnock Avenue closed between Arthur Street and Crittenden Drive.
- Hahn Street closed to through traffic between Eastern Parkway and Floyd Street for repaving. Hahn Street private entrance access will be allowed. (See PDF map area E)
- Old Eastern Parkway under the bridge closed.
- Fort Street closed.
Results: Improved safety, more direct route to campus
Part II: Eastern Parkway bridge repair
Starting Date: When first phase is finished.
Completion: Dec. 31, 2009
Scope: Jack Eastern Parkway bridge (See PDF map area C) off its foundation for foundation repairs, replace bridge railing, resurface, install median and reduce lanes from four to two.
Impact:
- Arthur Street closed between Warnock Avenue and Crittenden Drive. Local access will be maintained. (See PDF map area D)
- Old Eastern Parkway under bridge closed.
- Eastern Parkway closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from Hahn Street to the traffic signal at Speed School. (See PDF map area C)
Results: Improved safety. The bridge is among the 10 most structurally deficient in the state.
Part III: Eastern Parkway from bridge to Third Street
Starting Date: When first phase is finished.
Completion: Dec. 31, 2009
Scope: Install median and reduce lanes from four to two, close pedestrian walkway under Eastern Parkway, install truck height indicator and bicycle lanes
- Eastern Parkway between Third Street and the bridge closed to through traffic. (See PDF map area B)
- Access to Speed School parking lot maintained. One lane open in each direction during peak times.
- Pedestrian access to Speed School maintained.
- Speed School oval closed to traffic permanently.
- Access to parking lot by Grawemeyer and Natural Sciences closed permanently.
Results: Improved pedestrian safety, traffic flow.
Parking
- Red and blue spaces next to Eastern Parkway will be unavailable. (See PDF map pink shading)
- Some of the red permit holders will be moved to the current red/blue lot south of Eastern Parkway by the “throws” field.
- The Parking Office will add a temporary gravel lot with 96 blue and green spaces behind the SGA intramurals field (See PDF map area G). Access will be from South Brook Street and Eastern Parkway through the parking lot behind Speed School.
Other Points
- Contractors must keep at least one lane open on Floyd and South Brook streets during peak traffic times.
- There will be no lane closures on Floyd Street during UofL home football games and the St. X – Trinity football game at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
- Shuttle will have priority when there is a lane closure on Floyd.
- Detour signs will mark alternate routes during construction.
