The Faculty Senate is part of UofL’s shared governance system, which also includes the Staff Senate and the Student Government Association. Senators are elected by their peers. The full body met in regular session June 6 at the School of Dentistry. Chair Bob Staat presided. This is what happened:
See rare ‘transit of Venus’ at Rauch Planetarium June 5
The University of Louisville’s Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium will open its doors to allow visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Venus cross the face of the sun on June 5. The next time the solar phenomenon occurs will be in 2117.

UofL pediatrician joins elite group of board-certified child abuse specialists
University of Louisville pediatrician Lisa Pfitzer, MD, recently passed the 2011 child abuse pediatrics certifying exam, making her one of just 264 physicians nationwide who are certified in this recently designated medical specialty. Pfitzer is Kentucky’s second board-certified child abuse specialist.
