University Police targeting Eastern Parkway speeders

by UofL Today last modified Jul 14, 2010 03:25 PM

The renovation and reopening of Eastern Parkway has paved the way for a new problem: speeders.

University police report that they have received “quite a few” complaints about speeding and other traffic-related issues since Eastern Parkway reopened, said Chief Wayne Hall. Since July 6, DPS has written at least a dozen citations for speeding.

In addition, DPS is encountering pedestrian issues, such as jaywalking, Hall said.

He warned that DPS will monitor Eastern Parkway closely and continue issuing citations in the coming weeks in an effort to counter the violations.

“We will do what is necessary to keep our students, faculty and staff safe,” Hall said.
