Community Supported Agriculture Fair
11 a.m.–2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2
Faculty, staff and students who want to eat more locally grown foods can sign up at the campus Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fair to receive weekly food baskets through the growing season. The event will be at the Red Barn. More information
LaVon Williams exhibit
“LaVon Williams: Rhythm in Relief” is an exhibit featuring more than 60 works by the Lexington woodcarver. The exhibit is at the Cressman Center for Visual Arts Gallery, 100 E. Main St. Williams’ artwork explores a sense of personal and cultural identity through an examination of the artist’s African American heritage, spirituality and passion for music. The exhibit runs through March 5. Gallery hours
Axton Reading Series: Marilyn Nelson
7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3
Marilyn Nelson, former Connecticut poet laureate and University of Connecticut English professor emeritus, will read her work as part of the Axton Reading Series, Bingham Poetry Room, Ekstrom Library. Author or translator of more than a dozen books, she recently published the children’s book “Snook Alone” and the poetry collection “Sweethearts of Rhythm.” Her honors include two National Endowment for the Arts creative-writing fellowships, a Fulbright teaching fellowship, the 1990 Connecticut Arts Award and a J.S. Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship.
A Perfect Wedding
8 p.m. March 2–6 and at 3 p.m. March 6
The Department of Theatre Arts explores the institution of marriage in “A Perfect Wedding,” a comedy directed by Amy Steiger. Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for UofL faculty and staff and $8 for students and senior citizens. For tickets and information, call 502-852-6814 or go to Theatre Arts
