Guatemalan director Rodolfo Espinosa will attend two movie screenings and answer questions about his work during the University of Louisville’s “Reel Latin America” Film Festival, Oct. 4 ‒ 19.

Espinosa will attend 8 p.m. screenings of his 2003 comedy “Russian Girl” Oct. 4 and 5 in Floyd Theater, Swain Student Activities Center, on Belknap Campus, and participate in question-and-answer sessions afterward.

The 20th annual festival also offers free, multiple screenings of seven other films, either in Floyd Theater or in Ekstrom Library locations. The films are in Spanish with English subtitles. This year’s offerings are from Uruguay, Mexico, Spain, Peru, Argentina, Costa Rica, Colombia and Guatemala.

The Spanish section of UofL’s classical and modern languages department organizes the film festival in conjunction with the Spanish-language newspaper Al Dia en America.

This year’s festival coincides with an Oct. 4 ‒ 5 campus conference on Latin American and U.S. Latino films. “’Reel’ Latin America: Framing the 21st Century” conference sessions are organized by UofL’s classical and modern languages department.
