Ecuadoran director-screenwriter Fernando Mieles will attend two movie screenings and answer questions about his work Nov. 1 and Nov. 3 as part of the University of Louisville’s “Reel-Ecuador” Latin American Film Festival.

Mieles will attend a 6:30 p.m. reception and a 7 p.m. screening of his 2010 feature film “Deported/Prometeo Deportado” Nov. 1 at Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium on UofL’s Belknap Campus, and participate in a question-and-answer session afterward.

Then Nov. 3 the filmmaker will attend a 5:30 p.m. reception and answer questions after the 6 p.m. showing of his 2011 film “Descartes” at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St., in the festival’s concluding event.

The Spanish section of UofL’s classical and modern languages department organizes the 19th annual film festival in conjunction with the Spanish-language newspaper Al Dia en America.

All are free and presented in their original language, with English subtitles.
