Carol Garrison to be honored in UofL Hall of Provosts
President James Ramsey and other UofL officials will honor former Provost Carol Garrison by unveiling her portrait in the Hall of Provosts in Grawemeyer Hall Thursday, Aug. 15.
The 10 a.m. event is open to the public.
Garrison served as provost from 1997 to 2002 and is credited with enhancing undergraduate education by growing the Honors Program, increasing the number of faculty advisers and improving the on-campus experience of students. She also drove improvements to UofL’s technology infrastructure.
Garrison served as acting president in 2002, following John W. Shumaker’s departure for the University of Tennessee. She departed in 2002 to become the president of the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
People who need to drive to campus can part in the green lot south of Eastern Parkway. A shuttle will run from there to Grawemeyer Hall.
