John LaBarbera performs

UofL Jazz Ensemble I will hold a concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 5, in Comstock Hall in honor of the retiring John LaBarbera.

LaBarbera, a longtime professor of Jazz Studies and Grammy-nominated performer, is retiring in May after 23 years at UofL. His retirement celebration is a show not to be missed. In addition to Jazz Ensemble I, alumni and faculty will perform as well as surprise jazz musician guests.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and $5 for students with a student ID. They are available at the School of Music box office or by calling 502-852-6907. All proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship in LaBarbera’s honor.
