AATP Certificate
The first (and only) graduate program in African American Theatre in the region
Requires 15 hours of graduate credit—nine (9) hours in African American Theatre, three (3) hours of theatre related Community Service, three (3) hours of Electives.
Can be completed as a “stand alone” program or in conjunction with another graduate program (any area).

*Graduate Students (at U of L or another institution)
*Persons preparing for professional careers in the theatre arts

Requirements for the Graduate Certificate in African American Theatre
- A total of fifteen (15) hours in courses approved for graduate credit in accordance with the policies of the Graduate School.
- Six (6) credit hours must be chosen from the list of History/Theory/Literature courses (see below). Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.
- Three (3) credit hours must be chosen from the list of Performance/Production courses (see below). Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.
- Three (3) credit hours must be taken as an Independent Study in an area of Community Service. Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.
- Three (3) credit hours must be chosen from the list of Elective Courses. Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.
- At least three hours must be at the 600 level.
- A single course may satisfy more than one of these requirements (excluding the total of 15 hours) with the approval of the Director of Graduate Studies.
- Course work toward the Graduate Certificate in African American Theatre may also count toward the student's MFA degree.
Note: Students may not apply 500 level courses taken for undergraduate credit.
