AATP Graduate Certificate

Description and Requirements for a Graduate Certificate in African American Theatre.

Requires 15 hours of graduate credit, 9 hours in African American Theatre, 3 hours of Theatre related Community Service, and 3 hours of electives.
Can be completed as a “stand alone” program orin conjunction with another graduate program in any area.

Requirements for the Graduate Certificate in African American Theatre

 

1. A total of fifteen (15) hours in courses approved for graduate credit in accordance with the policies of the Graduate School.


2. Six (6) credit hours must be chosen from the list of History/Theory/Literature courses. Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.


3. Three (3) credit hours must be chosen from the list of Performance/Production courses. Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.


4. Three (3) credit hours must be taken as an

Independent Study in an area of Community Service. Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.


5. Three (3) credit hours must be chosen from the list of Electives. Substitutions must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.


6. At least Three (3) credit hours must be at the 600 level.


7. A single course may satisfy more than one of these requirements (excluding the total of 15 hours) with the approval by the Director of Graduate Studies.


8. Course work toward the Graduate Certificate in African American Theatremay also count toward the student’s MFA Degree.
